As both Supreme and alter ego Ethan Crane, Moore's version would battle the villainous Darius Dax, romance Diane Dane, and deal with the weird antics involving Billy Friday, a Jimmy Olsen stand-in. This would be one of several examples of Moore touching upon the well-known tropes of superhero comics, all while making Supreme's adventures fittingly tongue-in-cheek. Past versions lived in the "Supremacy," where they were sent after every continuity reboot. Much as Moore retconned Swamp Thing into being one of several, the current Supreme was revealed as merely one of many iterations of the ivory-clad icon.
Moore's Supreme was a throwback to the Silver Age Superman comics, which were known for their outlandish and larger than life stories.
